The Founder’s Dilemma: If You Don’t Write the Book, Who Will?
In 1994, I saw the future—and it wasn’t obvious yet.
Most people were still asking, “The internet? You mean that thing with AOL chat rooms?”
But I could see what was coming. The internet wasn’t a toy. It wasn’t a novelty. It was about to change everything: how people learn, how knowledge travels, how careers are built—and how legacies are made or lost.
So I built one of the very first distance learning companies. Before Zoom. Before YouTube. Before anyone believed serious education could happen online. Back when people thought this was a hobby for hobbyists.
It was clunky. Chaotic. Uncharted. But it was also a front-row seat to something that became absolutely clear to me then—and is even clearer now:
➡️ Whoever captures the story… controls the future. ➡️ Whoever organizes their knowledge—packages it, shares it, teaches it—shapes what comes next.
This is still true. Maybe more true than ever.
E.L. Doctorow said, “Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
Writing a meaningful book is exactly that. It’s not a formula. It’s not a checklist. It’s not copy-pasting your content into a glorified brochure.
It’s the disciplined, creative act of thinking—hard—and deciding what survives you.
Walker Percy spent his whole career wrestling with this: “How does a person survive the modern malaise? How do we make meaning in an age drowning in information but starving for orientation?”
For some of us, the answer is simple: you write the book.
Not a vanity project. Not a lead magnet dressed as a memoir. A real book. The one that captures what only you can say.
The ideas. The frameworks. The battles. The failures. The comeback. The philosophy underneath it all.
That’s the work I do. Not as a ghostwriter. Not as a hack. But as a thinking partner—for leaders, founders, consultants, and people with serious stories that deserve better than the content mill.
I’ve done this for decades. Built real businesses. Published real books. Advised leaders at every level. Helped people wrestle their lived experience into language that lasts.
The window doesn’t stay open forever.
The question isn’t whether there’s a book inside you. You already know that answer. The real question is whether you’re ready to get it out of your head and into the world—before someone else tries to tell your story for you.
If this hit home, send me a DM with “BOOK” and let’s have a real conversation.
No pitch. No pressure. Just clarity.
